Heh. This cracks me up, but only a little. Because Fred Phelps was is a horrible man, abusing his own family and using them to spread hate around the world.
But once again, Drew manages to find a morsel of funny in an otherwise crappy situation in this comic titled "Phlelps Text Message":

Edit: Thanks to hectimuse for pointing out that Phelps is still alive and well and spreading bile throughout our great nation (but not the United Kingdom--they banned him!)

As far as I know, Phelps is still alive. Unfortunately.

i do what i can. our language just ISN'T fluid enough, sometimes. it's like adding liquidity to the market.
So why can't we do the same thing that Britain did?
I always want to make a sign that says, "God hates the Phelps family." But, that would be counter productive so I didn't.
@laytexduckie - I always wanted to parade around with a sign that says "God ≠Hate." Though if the account from Phelps's son Nathan is right, it would be water rolling off a duck's back. That's super predestination Calvinism for you.
@abbylyne - The Westboro Baptist Church's only mission is to incite rage. So far, as long as people pay attention to them, they are winning. It just sucks that we can't ban them to a small 10 foot by 10 foot island somewhere by the Bermuda Triangle.
