I'm forced to disagree with the sentiment.
    But it's still funny.

@ElliottStrange - Forced? Really? By the idiotic idiocy of the hopelessly uneducated, unrefined, and completely devoid of any meaningful cultural contribution ever? The word "hegemony" comes to mind...

@abbylyne - Personal experience with a wide range of people is what motivates my conclusions regarding the species. It's on a decline - ethically as well as intellectually. It will take more than a snarky webcomic to prove to me otherwise.

@ElliottStrange - Dare I ask what yardstick one uses to measure the ethical and intellectual decline of an entire species (if, in fact, we can even measure ourselves as a "species" given the incredible diversity of culture and historic experience)? I mean beyond saying "I've met lots of different people." I mean, you have to be working from a universal standard to make such a sweeping statement about our species. Care to share?

@abbylyne - Ever spend a few years living in an inner city environment? You start to realize how shitty people really are to each other if you sit on any given street corner and just watch them. They're too busy for each other and they don't even seem to notice when the things they do cause others harm. I make the claim that people are getting worse because the more time I spend around people, the more cruelty (in greater proportions to kindness) I am made to witness.
As for the intellectual gap, I barely need to defend that. Look at the average intelligence quotient, testing scores and overall grades of students in school and college currently as opposed to even ten or twenty years ago.  ( the writer was wrong in this case, the information is readily available. I've seen it )
Better yet, approach a random stranger and talk to them. Give yourself five points if they have not misused a word or pronounced one incorrectly within the first three sentences.Slang and ebonics count against this.

To be fair, this is an anecdotal statement on my part. I feel no need to "prove" it becasue it is just something I have observed. I don't care if anyone else agrees with me. I'm not trying to make a point.

Oh - to be precise as well, the term hegemony doesn't make sense in context to what I have said. I noted a decline but I never disambiguated myself from it. We're all guilty participants in the mess. I'm observant - not arrogant.
